Jen Maher named GCA Head Volleyball Coach:
We are very excited to announce that Jennifer Maher has accepted the position to be our Head Girls Volleyball Coach. Jenn was born here in Franklin and grew up in the area with her family of six. She attended Brentwood High School and was part of 3 volleyball State Championship TEAMS. She attended Duke University and majored in Psychology, getting her Elementary Education license as well. After college, she returned to Franklin and has been teaching at Pearre Creek ever since. She will be entering her fifth year at Pearre Creek and teaches 1st grade. She is a Youth Leader for the middle and high schoolers at church (Bethel World Outreach). She has enjoyed giving volleyball lessons for each of the last 9 summers. Jenn says "I love working with and mentoring students of all ages, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to coach at this wonderful school."
I can tell you Jenn is a wonderful Christian young lady and very humble. This is the information I have been able to find out about Jenn during this process (she didn't mention any of this to me). In volleyball, Jenn was named All-District, Region MVP, 1st TEAM All-State, and was a member of the All-State Tournament TEAM. Jenn was also a 4 year starter on the Brentwood basketball TEAM where she scored over 1,000 points becoming the 7th leading scorer in Brentwood HS girls basketball history. She was also the pitcher on the Brentwood softball TEAM her senior season and compiled a 20-8 record. Academically, she finished 4th in her class at Brentwood and earned straight A's throughout her entire academic career. She was in the National Honor Society and was a College Board AP Scholar. She was recognized as a National Merit Commended Scholar and received a 36 on the English portion of the ACT. She received the Top Female Scholar-Athlete Award at the Brentwood High Academic Excellence Awards Banquet. Please see the article below to see what Jenn's teachers and coaches had to say about her.
We feel extremely blessed that God brought Jenn our way. We are excited that she will lead our volleyball program. Please congratulate her and give her a huge GCA welcome.
