Mary Ann Maxson » Bio

After being a GCA mom for a few years, Mrs. Mary Ann Maxson joined the faculty as the Pre-Kindergarten teacher.  She earned her Elementary Education degree at University of Tennessee and has two Associate degrees from Tennessee Temple University.  She also has Highly Qualified Status from the State of Tennessee.  Ms. Mary Ann knew she wanted to be a teacher since she was a little girl.  She has taught Kindergarten for three years in Alabama and 1st grade for five years in Franklin, TN.  She has also taught Pre-K, children's choirs, VBS, and planned curriculum at church for many years.

After being a stay-at-home mom for eight years, Ms. Mary Ann enjoys being in the classroom once again.  Her passion in teaching is making learning fun, using hands-on strategies, and teaching to many different learning styles.  Above all, her hope and prayer is that she can help plant the seeds of God's love in the hearts of these little ones and guide them on the path to find God's plan and purpose for their life.

Recently, she and her husband were privileged to be on the launch team of a new church plant called Church of the City, whose vision it is to plant a network of diverse neighborhood churches that work together for the renewal of Nashville.  Mary Ann and her husband Jon have three boys.  Her life verse is "I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them.  I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth.  These are the things I will do.  I will not forsake them" (Isaiah 42:16).
