GCA Fine Arts Presents The Sound of Music!

Performances are on Thursday, March 21st at 6:00 PM, Friday, March 22nd at 6:00 PM, and two shows on Saturday, March 23rd at 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM in the Grace Chapel gymnasium (Entrance 3).

Directed by Carrie Estes, Rogers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music melodies will transport you to the picturesque landscapes of the Austrian Alps and you’ll be swept away by The Sound of Music. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces take hold of Austria, Maria, and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision.

"This has been a mountain of a show for us, from the iconic music to the sets (the Alps to the Abbey), costumes, lights, and most of all, the beautiful story to tell, and we could not be more proud of these students,” says Mrs. Estes. “These rich and complex characters are not easy to portray. It is a timely reminder to us all that love and beauty will forever bloom and grow.”

Tickets are $12 each and may be purchased online from the GCA website or at the door. Audience members will enjoy the talents of 62+ high school students who comprise the cast and crew. This show will be a dose of theatrical entertainment for the entire family and will feature plenty of songs your family is sure to know.
