Bio

Mr. Elliott Knowles graduated from Auburn University with a BS in Elementary Education in 2012 where he completed both the Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI) as well as the Alabama Science, Math and Technology Initiative (AMSTI) training programs. He also holds endorsements in Middle School Science and Language Arts.

Born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas, Elliott is passionate about education and athletics. He was coached by the Bahamian Olympic Swimming coach (who was also his father) for 18 years and logged over 800 hours as an instructor for the Swim America learn-to-swim program. Elliott was privileged to serve as the Team Captain for the Caribbean National Water Polo Championship in 2004. Most recently, Elliott volunteered with the Wheaton College Varsity Men’s Swimming team, coached 3rd grade basketball and was a referee for an elementary and middle school basketball league.

After several years of substitute teaching at public schools in the suburbs of Chicago, Elliott joined the staff at Grace Christian Academy in 2015. He enjoys creating thought-provoking, hands-on lessons which encourage students to think critically and foster a sense of excitement around science and God’s creation. Elliott’s goal is to provide a Christ-centered educational experience while partnering with families to build community and help students to reach their full potential in a safe Christian environment.

Elliott and his wife, Erin, enjoy traveling, cooking together and spending time outdoors, both on land and sea. They regularly visit The Bahamas where Elliott has had the opportunity to sail in two Bahamian sloop regattas, lead week-long adventure camping trips and generally be an island boy.

Elliott’s favorite verses are found in Proverbs 3:5-6 which say, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
