Mission Opportunity - Summer 2020

Parents and Students 10 years and older (as of July 11, 2020)

Jinja, Uganda

Dear GCA Parents and Students 10 years and older,

This summer, we have an opportunity to serve alongside of HEAL Ministries in Jinja, Uganda. Our Kindergarten teacher, Hope Martin, will be leading the trip. Hope Martin worked and lived in Uganda for one year, and this summer GCA is able to go back to the ministry that she worked for.

While in Uganda, we will be serving orphans and widows, and abandoned women and children at the James Place, which is the property for HEAL Ministries. Their website has valuable information that explains what they do and you can even watch a video to see for yourself! “HEALMinistries vision is that every abandoned woman and child find his or her value, purpose, and hope through the transforming love of Jesus Christ.” The programs at the James Place in Jinja, Uganda are tools to create opportunities for women to feel loved and find hope and know their potential. Through this empowering process, women and children are seeing for the first time that they CAN change their families and community for the better.” Heal Ministries teaches family preservation and sustainability through teaching our mothers a skill or trade, while educating their children so they will be successful during primary school.

We will be assisting with the many programs such as Childcare, Preschool, English, Business, Bible Study, Sewing, Pottery, Leather trades, Jewelry Design and KIDS Club. We will also have the opportunity to visit other local ministries that are serving the community of Jinja, Uganda that walk alongside of Heal Ministries.

If you are interested in this trip, even if you are unsure about committing yet, please email Hope. There will be an informational meeting in the next 2 weeks to provide more information!
