BIO

Dawn Hoesel has spent 27 years teaching in Christian schools and is passionate about helping students grow both academically and spiritually. She earned her degree in secondary education from Taylor University and later continued her math studies after discovering her passion for full-time mathematics instruction.

Mrs. Hoesel began her teaching career at West Seneca Christian School near Buffalo, New York. After marrying her husband, Don, she moved to Tennessee, where she taught for five years at Lighthouse Christian School before spending the past 19 years teaching math at Franklin Christian Academy. During that time, she has also served as math department head and academic dean, helping strengthen curriculum and academic programs.

Over the years, Mrs. Hoesel has taught courses ranging from Algebra I to AP Calculus and enjoys helping students build confidence while creating a classroom environment where they feel supported, challenged, and encouraged. She believes mathematics develops perseverance, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

Outside of school, Dawn enjoys spending time with family, hiking, and gardening. She and Don recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary and have two children, Alyssa and Aidan. They attend Church of the City Spring Hill, where Dawn serves with the City Students program on Wednesday evenings.

One of her favorite Bible passages is Philippians 2:3–8, which encourages believers to walk in humility and value others above themselves, following the example of Christ.
