GCA In-House Art Competition 2026

“Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31

Art Competition entries should be original compositions created by the student. Inspiration can be taken from online sources, other photographs, and in-class projects. (No paint-by-numbers or coloring sheets.) Artwork should be pleasing to God.

A $5 entrance fee will be charged per student through FACTS.

Timeline:
Jan 20 Entries will be accepted at all campus front desks and are due by January 20th
Feb 2-27 Artwork Display at Lower Campus
Feb 21 Closing Reception 1:00-3:00 PM


Turn in the following:

  • MOUNTED ART: Use black mat board or black poster board to create a “floating” mount for all 2D artwork, excluding canvases. See your Art Teacher if you need a mat. 3D artwork must stand on its own.
  • YOUR NAME ON ART: 2D artwork must have your FULL name on the front of the artwork. 3D artwork must have your FULL name written on the project.

Artist Statement:

K-4th Grade - Optional

5th- 12th Grade - Required


Artist Statement: Artist Statements must be printed and submitted with the artwork. Briefly describe in one paragraph how you developed the idea for the piece, the source of your inspiration, the techniques, and the materials used. You may also include a description of symbolism, faith connection, or personal meaning represented in the piece.  


Competition Categories: 

The following must be typed, printed, mounted on black paper, and submitted with your artwork:

Student Name / Grade / Category 


Students may enter two pieces total in one or two of the following categories:

  1. Painting - Can be watercolor, tempera, acrylic, oil, or gouache 
  2. Drawing & Mixed Media - One or a combination of pencil, charcoal, ink, colored pencil, oil pastel, or chalk
  3. Digital Media - Digital painting, graphic design, and photography
  4. 3D - Wood, clay, metal, glass, plastic, assembly


Awards:

Artwork will be displayed and judged by grade range. (K-2, 3-4, 5-8, 9-12)

All awards will be announced at the Closing Reception on Saturday, February 21st:

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Awards for each category and grade range
  • Lionheart Award - Integrated faith in your art and artist statement
  • Fan Favorite - Voted on by peers and teachers
