Judy Barnette graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a B.S. and a M.S. in Mathematics. She taught at Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro and then Franklin High for ten years. She then decided to stay home for 13 years and raise their two girls, McKenzie and Haley.
She started teaching at Ravenwood High School in the fall of 2008 and remained there for five years. She decided to take a year off so that she could take classes at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. She really had no idea where God was leading her when she made that decision, but is now excited to have the opportunity to combine her two passions: teaching Mathematics and encouraging students in their Christian walk.
She and her husband Rick are very involved in their local church, Redemption City Church, a church plant of ClearView Baptist church where they were members for over 20 years. Judy’s passion is teaching and training participants of mission trips and then actually leading the trip. She has been on over 40 national and international mission trips and is enjoying leading GCA students as they learn about missions.
One of her favorite Bible verses is, “So those who were scattered went on their way preaching the message of Good News.” Acts 8:4. She realizes that this isn’t your typical “favorite verse” but what she likes about it is this: the people scattered because they were persecuted but, if they hadn’t scattered, the Good News would not have spread. Good things do come from bad things!
