Bio

Mary Ann Maxson knew from the age of kindergarten that she wanted to be a teacher. She is so thankful for the Christian education she received from kindergarten through twelfth grade and is so blessed to now teach in a Christian school. She received two Associate Degrees from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and then earned her Elementary Education / Multidisciplinary Studies degrees from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. After graduating, she taught kindergarten in Alabama for several years. After relocating to Franklin in 2000, she taught first grade with FSSD as well.

Having been a GCA mom for a few years, Mrs. Mary Ann was excited to join the GCA faculty in 2014 as the Pre-K teacher. Teaching four and five-year-olds has always been her favorite age to teach, as they are so eager and excited to learn and have such a sweet and tender love for God’s Word. The Pre-K department at GCA has now grown to three classes, and Mrs. Mary Ann now serves as Pre-K Director. She loves to come alongside the teachers in their curriculum planning and assessments, as well as to plan the many fun Pre-K events and activities!

Mrs. Mary Ann is married to her college sweetheart Jon, and they have three teenage boys who have attended GCA since kindergarten. Her family was on the launch team to help plant Church of the City, where her family attends and serves. When they are not at church or school, you will probably find them at UT Vols football games or on the soccer field!

Her favorite verse is Psalm 18:28: “You, Lord, keep my lamp burning. My God turns my darkness into light.”
