Bio

Mary Ann Maxson knew from the age of kindergarten that she wanted to be a teacher. She is so thankful for the Christian education she received from kindergarten through twelfth grade and is so blessed to now teach in a Christian school. She received two Associate Degrees from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee and then earned her Elementary Education degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. After graduating, she taught kindergarten and first grade for several years, and in recent years, helped her church plan the preschool curriculum.

Having been a GCA mom for a few years, Mrs. Mary Ann was excited to join the GCA faculty in 2014 as the Pre-K teacher. Teaching four and five-year olds has always been her favorite age to teach, as they are so eager and excited for learning and have such a love for God’s Word. The Pre-K department at GCA has now grown to two classes and an assistant. Mrs. Mary Ann is excited this year to come alongside the teachers in their curriculum planning and assessments, as well as to plan the many fun Pre-K events!

Mrs. Mary Ann has been married to her college sweetheart and has three boys who attend GCA. Her family was on the launch team to help plant Church of the City, where her family attends and serves. When they are not at church or school, you will probably find them at UT Vols football games or on the soccer field!

Her favorite verse is Psalm 18:28: “You, Lord, keep my lamp burning. My God turns my darkness into light.”
