Bio

Annie Shipman graduated Summa Cum Laude from Campbell University in 2001 with a BA in Mass Communications. A softball pitcher, Shipman lead the nation in saves her senior year and was named a Verizon Academic All American. She went on to complete an internship at the NCAA, working a year in Championships before deciding to pursue her master’s degree. Shipman graduated with a Master’s of Arts in Exercise Science and Sports Pedagogy in 2004 from Gardner-Webb University and worked as a Graduate Assistant in the softball program. It was at Gardner-Webb that she met her husband Scott (who was in the same master’s program and was the Wrestling GA). Shipman spent one more year at GWU as the assistant softball coach before moving down the road to coach three years at Furman University. The Paladins won the 2007 Southern Conference Championship and made their first ever Regional Tournament appearance while she was part of the coaching staff.  

The couple married in 2006 and when their oldest daughter (Elizabeth) was born in 2008, Shipman took a high school coaching job in Spartanburg, SC. The family moved to Nashville in 2009 and Shipman’s focus turned to raising a family as they welcomed Rachel in 2010 and then Caleb in 2012.  

They currently reside in Franklin and were thrilled to join the GCA family in 2020.  If not on the softball field, Shipman can normally be found walking her two spoiled black labs or fussing in the garden. Her favorite things to do are watch her kids do the activities they love and sit on the back porch with her husband.
