Bruce Anliker studied elementary education at Northwestern College in Orange City, IA, graduating in 2006. After receiving his middle school endorsement from Morningside College, he obtained his Masters in School Leadership at Dordt College in Sioux Center, IA, in the spring of 2017. Bruce found a passion for middle school students at his first job in Sibley, Iowa, teaching 8th grade history. He then spent six years teaching 7th grade geography at Sioux Center Middle School. Bruce enjoys teaching 8th grade history at GCA and looks forward to adding a Bible class and handling middle school discipline this year! One of his favorite teaching activities is engaging his students by incorporating research and inquiry using National History Day.
After a collegiate career on the Red Raider football team, Bruce spent the last eight years coaching varsity football. At Sioux Center, he helped build a program that finished as a 2013 State Semi-finalists and 2014 State Runner-up. Besides their on-field success, Bruce was part of a tremendous coaching staff that helped high school boys grow into men of integrity. Along with football, he has coached varsity wrestling, track, and middle school baseball.
Bruce and his wife Alex have four children: Noah (4th) and Emery (2nd) both attend GCA and Isaiah (3 years) and Oliver (6 months).
Bruce has many verses that have spoken to him at various points of his life. Two of his favorites are Romans 5:3-5 and James 1:2-12 dealing with perseverance and the development of character and hope.
